You’ll be able to track your pets or keys with the SmartThings Find software. Update (at 12:30pm ET): Samsung shared a bit more information at its Unpacked keynote today, including the fact that the Galaxy Smart Tags use coin-cell batteries that will last for months. Don’t worry if your smartphone doesn’t include UWB or you’ve. The middle of the tracker acts as a button that you can use to locate your cell phone OR to start a routine using the Smart Things interface (think turning on your porch lights). As for smart tags with UWB support, you’ll have to choose between the Apple AirTag and Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag Plus. The outside is made of a hard, matte style plastic and appears to be very durable upon first inspection. For now, it’ll be curious to see what benefits there are to getting a Galaxy Smart Tag over a Tile or the plethora of other Bluetooth trackers already available. The Smart Tag+ looks very similar to the regular Galaxy Smart Tag. It has a 1-year battery life, and comes with some additional features such as sound and augmented reality. It can be attached to your keys, car, handbag or other personal item and help you locate it when it’s lost. The Galaxy SmartTag is a tracking device which can be attached to various objects that are easily lost with a small strap (sold separately) or by other means. That’s really all we know so far, and we’ll likely have to wait for Samsung to release more information perhaps later this year to learn more. The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag retails for 29 / £29 (roughly AU40) while the SmartTag Plus goes for 39 /£39 (around AU55). Similar to the Tile tracker or Apple AirTag, the Samsung SmartTag is a small Bluetooth tracker and item finder. Based on the pictures we’ve seen, the accessory looks chunkier than Tile trackers, too. This particular one is from Samsung and I didn’t buy it, it came as part of the pre-order deal with the S21 Ultra along with their n. It’s likely that there will be an app or integration with Samsung’s One UI to help you track your stuff. The company hasn’t shared many other details on the Galaxy Smart Tag, but it’s a fairly straightforward device. Samsung also said the two models will differ in size as well, and that it plans to sell the product in multi packs or different combos based on the technology as UWB becomes more widely available.
